Job Description 
Mallinda is seeking a full-time engineer experienced with composite material production, and proven experience developing new materials or products. The Composite Materials Engineer role will lead engineering support for the scale up & production of new products, as well as leading the initial engineering support for first customers & development partners to support new material development. This individual will also play a key role in the Technology Development team by leading the engineering activities, engage with external manufacturing partners, suppliers and customer all toward driving our first commercial products to scaled production. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in composites, proven leadership abilities, and strong written & verbal communication.

Immediate Activities Include 

  • Hands-on lead of engineering support for material development efforts- including creating standard testing protocols, defect & failure mode analysis, training & managing technicians

  • Lead engineering support for scale-up of resin production (in-house or toll)

  • Interact with toll manufacturers, suppliers & customers as needed

  • Communicate clearly internally & externally

  • Assist CTO with project management, and new project directions

Qualifications/Experience 

We are looking for candidates with the following credentials:

The ideal candidate is independent, but with strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in mechanical, aerospace, or process engineering (or related field), with ≥5 years post graduate experience in new product or process development

  • Self-starter who can develop solutions to technical issues with only general direction.

  • Broad knowledge in composite materials, characterization and defect/failure analysis

  • Experience building and/or managing a technical team

  • Experience communicating with internal and external customers on a regular basis. Ability to represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues

  • Experience with quality systems

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong technical writing skills


Senior Scientist, Polymer / Organic Chemist

Job Description 
Mallinda is looking for a full-time scientist with training and experience in polymer synthesis and small molecule organic transformations. The Senior Scientist, Polymer/Organic Chemist role will support the Technology Development team by participating in and overseeing internal chemistry activities, engage with external manufacturing partners, suppliers and customer all toward driving our first commercial product to scaled production. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in polymer chemistry with experience leading materials R&D projects. 

Immediate Activities Include:

  • Lead the development of new formulations to meet product, and process specs

  • Interact with toll manufacturers, suppliers & customers as needed

  • Communicate clearly internally & externally

  • Assist CTO with project management, and new materials research directions

Responsibilities and Deliverables 

  • Lead the development of new formulations to meet product, and process specs.  The Senior Scientist will be the hands-on lead to formulate novel resins to the specs of roll-to-roll manufacturing.

  • Interact with toll manufacturers, suppliers & customers as needed. Communicate clearly internally & externally.  The Senior scientist will play a significant role in bringing our first product to the finish line of production and sales.

  • Assist CTO with project management, and new materials research directions.  The senior scientist will work closely with the CTO on project management and coordination activities.  This person will also conduct basic research in support of Mallinda’s long term developments.

Qualifications/Experience

  • PhD in Polymer Chemistry (or related field), with ≥3 years post-graduate experience in polymer synthesis, organic synthesis and chemical characterization.

  • Broad knowledge in polymer chemistry, characterization and property analysis

  • Background in organic chemistry and small molecule analytics

  • Experience in advanced composite materials a plus

  • Experience building and managing a technical team

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong technical writing skills
